Thames Tideway public spaces
Artistic Metals was commissioned to apply our unique AM.7 aged and dark patinated real bronze coating to the architectural metal work at four brand new public spaces along the Thames. The central sites include flagship Victoria Embankment along with Chelsea, Blackfriars and Putney embankments.
The bespoke coating includes finishing to riverside balustrading, handrails, kiosk cladding and seating. Not all sites are yet open to the public as work is still ongoing. But the spaces can be seen from various points around the perimeter to catch a glimpse of the project's progress.
The design life of the public spaces is expected to span several decades. So it was important the bronze coating be durable enough to withstand environmental factors. As the coating is 100% bronze the finish will wear and age naturally as cast bronze would.
